Time Machine - DMG backupbundle

Today, I did my routine backup with Time Machine this morning on the Time Capsule drive. During "preparing backup", it showed over 250 gbs to backup (although there would have been only a few mgs of changes since the previous backup just a few hours earlier). Something was up!

So . . . When I double click on my IMac.backupbundle image, it shows all the dated folders since my very first backup done in March 2020 to the latest one today. HOWEVER, when I "enter" time machine from the toolbar icon, it only show the backups I made since this morning. That is, I can no longer access any backups made before today using Time Machine, but all the backups I have made since March are clearly still on the external Time Capsule.

Any idea how I can scroll back/access all the backups I have made since March using the Time Machine icon in the toolbar (i.e which I had been able to do until today)?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Many thanks,

What you are experiencing is the normal Time Machine Backup disk is busy, so the only backups you can access are the snapshots on your internal hard drive.....

If you wait until the backup in progress completes, then your Time Machine lookback will stretch back as far as you need.....alternatively, if you just enter the Time Machine and walk away, the backup in progress will eventually end and give you back full access to the data residing on the Time Machine Backup disk.

Learned the hard way?

smirk

FWIW : I had changed the TITLE of a large folder (250g GB+) within my Documents folder. By doing so, it appears that WHOLE folder's contents were backed up . . . not just the change in title/label. I have no idea why, but this appears to have been the case.
