ON my desktop, I see Firefox all time on in dock . But I use Chrome exclusively now for year. So not sure, can't pinpoint why FF keeps coming up. Any ideas? Any method to prevent that globally?

To remove Firefox from the dock, hold the mouse down on its icon. "Options" will appear. Go to Options and click Remove From Dock.

When it appears in the Dock…
  • Where is it on the Dock?
  • Does it have a dot below the icon indicating it is open?
  • By any chance is it listed as a login item?

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Thanks Joe:

On extreme right of dock, where apps end and folders begin.
Yes had the black dot below it.
Not in log in items.

Up right now have no idea why there.

The position in the Dock and the black dot indicate, something is launching Chrome. The first place I would check is System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items. It could be Chrome itself or some file or task that in turn launches Chrome. If you click on Chrome in the Dock the page it opens to might yield a clue as to what is launching it.
