I think we have the answer....it's a comedy. Sweaty Giuliani is seen here with hair dye running down his face. You almost think that, when Giuliani and his group of legal clowns show up at court, they all roll out of a tiny little car. I liked the fellow from the Lincoln Project who said Trump should dump Giuliani and get a group of chimps. "They'd do a better job and they'd be more entertaining to watch".

Trump has said he will be running for the presidency in 2024...can convicted felons run for office? How about those serving a prison sentence?

We can only wish.

A convicted felon can run for President of the United States. Serving a prison sentence is another story. Is there a limit on the number of visitors per day? smirk
Regardless, anyone running for President as a Republican would have to get that party's nomination. Maybe they will wake up and see that there is someone better and more qualified.

Donald Trump never won an Emmy for “The Apprentice” and the world’s #1 sore loser predictably claimed it was only because the Emmys are…wait for it….rigged. He once tweeted: “I should have won many Emmys for The Apprentice if the process were fair….”

So, President Bonespur must be really burning (weeping and whining?) to hear that Governor Cuomo will be getting an Emmy for his “Masterful Use of Television” during his coronavirus briefings.

Hahahahahaha. I love it.

Apparently some GOP Senators are now telling Trump to quit whining and home.

Apparently ex-#45 is trying to take control of the Republican National Committee. How successful his efforts are in this endeavor may give a glimpse into the future of the Republican presidential nominee.

Or hopefully, it may presage the re-emergence of the Real Republican Party from the ashes of the Trumplican Party.

I'd really love to see every anti-Trump newspaper/website in America - the entire world, for that matter - post a full front page pic of Trump under 2,000 point typeface "LOSER!" when the Electoral College certifies Biden's win, and email a copy to the White House.

It just might drive him over the edge.

Another thing that probably fries him: Trump desperately wanted to win an Emmy for The Apprentice but it never happened. Cuomo was recently awarded an Emmy for his televised covid broadcasts.

I read about Cuomo and forgot about it when Trump didn't take the bait.

That's out of character for him.

I'm sure it's also making him crazy that even judges whom he appointed (and thinks owe him fealty) have rejected his claims. Hasn't his sister been able to teach him anything about the judiciary and the effect of life-long appointments upon their recipients?

I kinda doubt that the Supreme Court will even take his PA case, but I'm anxiously awaiting their decision if they do.

Trump had a victory over Cuomo when his newly revised SCOTUS voted 5-4 to allow church gatherings – a victory of religion over science.

It's as though the US version of the Taliban has already taken over control.

Whether or not the Republicans allow President Loser to maintain any level of influence in the party may not be as great a concern as what he will do once out of office. We are talking about a petty, vindictive little man who has proven to be capable of the most irrational and irresponsible behaviour. I worry that he will continue stirring up his wacko followers in order to generate turmoil (including deadly encounters) simply to cause problems for President Biden.

For a man who "won BIG," he's most certainly behaving like a loser.

More: "It's my toy, and if I can't play with it, I'm going to break it so nobody else can play with it!"

You'd think his own party would be smart enough to tell him to stop.

It's not a victory for religion over science, rather the decision is a victory for democracy and the Constitution.

The Court's job is to decide Constitutionality...period, and a decision that science trumps (Apologies frown ) Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms, regardless of the circumstances, would set a dangerous precedent.

If science can be used to fetter the Constitution, even in the present circumstances, it will leave us wide open to the whims and whimsies of every crackpot out there.

Science would be fettering the Constitution if it said you cannot practice your religion. Is it fettering the Constitution to say for this period of time, in the interest of public health, you should practice your religion outside or with fewer people inside?

In the mainstream, no.

And as a matter of fact, it may be argued that the Court should never have agreed to hear the case in the first place, because it's long been held that health concerns are subject to individual state police powers (Legal Precedents for Epidemic Response), and case law has upheld it...
Originally Posted by : Mentioned in above-inked doc

However, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the state, stating that “a community has the right to protect itself against an epidemic of disease which threatens the safety of its members.” (*))
And further, there's a very recent lower court decision - which the Court "brazenly" ignored - that spelled out the science in no uncertain terms...
What is especially disappointing in the Supreme Court decision is that the lower court had made the correct points very clearly in a decision that was brazenly overlooked by the majority decision. The Federal District Court had noted that: "Among the other problematic features of religious gatherings, congregants arrive and leave at the same time, physically greet one another, sit or stand close together, share or pass objects, and sing or chant in a way that allows for airborne transmission of the virus."
Footnote: I've got no idea how deep into the Jewish community the decision will sink, but Agudath Israel, the Jewish plaintiff, represents the haredim, groups within Ultra-Orthodox Judaism characterized by a strict (I'd call it maniacal) adherence to Jewish law and traditions, who are pretty much isolated within their own communities and will pass the disease on to pretty much nobody but other members of their own community.

Sidenote: Gorsuch's concurring opinion is so scientifically illiterate and so contrived to justify that illiteracy that he should be embarrassed by having written it.

But stepping out of the mainstream, my approval of the decision against NYS is rooted in its leaving unfettered Gaia's "constitutional right" to (as grelber has so eloquently put it) "thin the herd." (I don't even try to hide it: I'm a huge fan of death!)

(*) THAT scares the bejeezus out of me! I'm not about to roll up my sleeve for a vaccine that was researched, tested, and brought to market in 6-8 months.

I don't know if it was accurate, but I read the other day that he's raised $120 million since the election.

I hope he steals it all rather than saves it for another run. (Talk about lesser evils!)

I read up a bit on pardons, and I learned that when you accept one, you give up your 5th amendment rights.

I'm finding this whole issue of pardons a bit confusing. I believe it was joemike who pointed out that a pardon is for a crime that has been committed (e.g. Nixon wasn't 'pardoned' because he resigned before being convicted of a crime). So, if Trump and his family are to have pardons, must they first confess to some crimes? Surely a pardon can't be granted for some unknown crime you may be charged with in the future. I assume the courts require some level of specificity.
