A friend gave me an album, he transferred the MP3 to his flash disk and I copied it to my Mini and put it in the iTunes Music folder. It's approximately 57MB in size. It shows up in iTunes but will only play the first track of about 3 minutes and not the other tracks.
If I open it in QuickTime the entire album plays, about 40 minutes.
Is there some way to get the entire album to play in iTunes?
Thanks

"it doesn't work" is entirely unhelpful.
what did you see?
what options did you consider?
what did you try?
what happened?
what were you expecting to happen?
more specifically, "it only plays"... what does that mean? won't show the other two tracks? greyed out items? ignores when you double click it? plays but no sound? error message? itunes hangs? you need to volunteer information, it takes forever to play 20 questions.

Here are a couple things to try. Get info on the track in iTunes. Check the start and stop times under options. What does the summary say? Is the track from a PC? Make a copy and have iTunes re-encode it.

It plays about 80% of the first track and then stops in iTunes, the latest version. If I open the file in QuickTime is plays all of the tracks with no problem.

- Quit iTunes
- In your User folder ~/Library/Caches drag the iTunes folder to the desktop.
- Restart iTunes and again play the tunes
- If it does not play then drag the iTunes cache folder back to the ~/Library/Caches.
- If it does play then drag the folder on the desktop to the trash.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Tried deleting the cache and that did not solve the problem either.
Seems weird that it plays all tracks just fine with QuickTime but for some reason iTunes just doesn't like it.
Also tried adjusting the stop time in the 'GetInfo' window and that didn't solve the problem either.

if it's stopping early during play the mp3 may be damaged or badly encoded. It may be necessary to obtain the original music again, or to find an app to decode the mp3 (that can work past the bad part) and then re-encode it.

If it's damaged why do all tracks play just fine in QuickTime?

Normally I'd expect quicktime and itunes to use the same "engine" internally (APIs) to play the music, but they may handle it differently for some reason. Damaged documents (even music documents) can sometimes be accessed properly, more a matter of luck than skill. You may find that some features don't work properly, like clicking elsewhere in the timeline to change the position of play.
