Hmm#3: that "combo" link i posted there is suspiciously small (695 megs).
i also don't like the fact that it's a .pkg instead of a .dmg

i'd advise not using it now.

Indeed, 10.6.5 is in da house. Now the wait is for a Leopard patch, and, while we’re on the topic, updates for some older versions of MS Office.

Hmm, no combo posted officially as yet.
Maybe they're still pulling Flash out of it.

Someone was able to come up with that link while downloading their delta, so it will only work on identical machines... and only if you can find the missing parts. Looks like the full combo will weigh in at over a gig.

If it ever shows up that is.

Well, the Leopard patch is now available too, while Microsoft commented on the delayed patches for Office 2004 and 2008.

Next up: iTunes 10.1 and iOS 4.2

Well, here's iTunes 10.1.

Current 'best guess' on the release of iOS 4.2 says Nov. 24, just ahead of the turkey holiday.

But Nov. 30 also looms as a possibility (wherein Apple still manages to adhere to the original "scheduled for November" announcement).

Myself, i'm thinking 6PM EST (3PM Cupertino) on Nov. 23rd sounds plausible. Then again, the 16th sure would be sweet.

[tuesdays are typical... but we've seen fridays happen on occasion.]

MacWorld's Dan Moren seems to agree with you about a November release.

Yeahp... and he mentions the recently rumored "iPad WiFi" quirk as the reason for the current delay. [most were expecting the release this week, as soon as 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1 were out the door.]

[fwiw, i'm also holding off on getting a new iPod touch until i can get one that *ships* with iOS 4.2 pre-installed (merry xmas?). Perhaps if my SE C903 breaks down in a year (or two), i'll eventually purchase my first iPhone, and abandon iPods forever.]

The radio just reported that the Beatles were either the first or second biggest selling artists last year, so...

I snarfed up Sgt. Pepper's yesterday. Buying the entire package (for 13 bucks) got me all 13 songs plus a short video (documentary) and a bunch of graphics in the "LP" container.

Anyway, new generations aren't limited to "artists" like Eminem. Some gravitate in more nostalgic directions. So new customers are going online every day. And the Beatles' influence on pop musicians is never-ending as well. Check out songs like "You're A Pony" by Grant-Lee Phillips...or "Shiftee" by The Broken West... or "Downstream" (and maybe "Boomerang" to a lesser degree) by Cinderpop.

As loathe as I am to take the conversation backwards, technologically speaking, in addition to my original Sgt. Pepper vinyl I have a never-opened marbleized vinyl. However, that's less interesting than the child's logic concerning the purchase.

We were living in Toronto at the time and I went to a vintage vinyl sale along with one of my daughters, who was about 9 or 10 at them time. On the drive home she was examing my "find" quite intently and finally asked:

"So, Dad, we can never play this record?"

"That's right, kiddo"

(Pause) "And we can never even open it?"

"Right again."

(Pause) "And we already have this record?"

"Yes we do."

(Pause) "And this one cost more money than our other one?"

"Yes it did."

(Long pause) "So why did we buy it?"
