Something is taking a lot of my hard drive space and I wish I knew what it was. Last weekend I had 21 GB of free space and today I have only 16 GB.The hard drive is 200 GB and I partitioned 24 GB for XP. I used onyX and got rid of caches.
How can I find out what is using all the space?
Thanks

There are several freeware, shareware, and commercial utilities that will show you where your disk space is being used my personal favorite is Baseline because it is very informative and provides a history for comparison purposes over time. ID Design's WhatSize is also highly recommended and Smith Micro's Spring Cleaning has been around for a long time. With any product of this type they must be used with judicious caution especially when using them to actually remove files from the system. The uninformed deletion of a file can easily render your system non-operable. They are useful, but use with care.

Since Joe only listed shareware utils, you may also want to look at freeware options like GrandPerspective. You might also be interested in the background of your problem as discussed in the MacFixIt (our previous incarnation) thread Where Did My Disk Space Go?. (If you find the slow access to this thread annoying and would like to fix that for subsequent visits, check out the thread Fix for macfixitforums archive slow loading.)

Do you have TechTool Pro installed? If so, see TechTool Protection eats up >half HD space.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to be gone for awhile and then hopefully I can figure out what is using up the space.
