I just switched to battery power for the first time since updating my Mid 2015 15" MacBook Pro Retina from 10.14.0 to 10.14.1, and I'm getting wacky, inconsistent readings that my battery life has decreased by anywhere from 20-33%.

Has anybody else seen this?

Update: Known issue...working on it.

Update 2: Reset SMU and reinstalled 10.14.1 Update, which is apparently how a Genius solved the problem for someone else, and the problem has gotten worse.

Hmmm... It now looks like rather than my battery's life having shortened, the amount of time that passes before its actual life shows in my menu bar has lengthened...inordinately.

At the moment, I'm running it down, and I'll know what to look for after I"ve recharged it.

As I thought, my battery has been taking a full charge, but the OS wasn't recognizing it immediately...taking between an hour and two, in glacially slow increments, to register it when I switched to battery power after fully charging it.

That seems to have corrected itself after a few shut downs, but I still see it when I put my screen to sleep and walk away from my MBP for a coupl'a hours after the battery's been discharging for a (n indeterminate) few hours. (In other words, as I use the battery and its projected life should remain more or less the same, it's increasing.)

I just updated to macOS 10.14.2, and my battery situation has changed for the worse.

It's showing a significantly shorter life than in 10.14.1 and is draining ridiculously quickly although Activity Monitor > Energy doesn't show anything unusual.

This is in line with what others were complaining about in 10.14.1.

Well, it took until 10.14.6, but Apple has finally gotten macOS reading my battery correctly.

I wonder if it took this long to work the issue out or it was just down at the bottom of the list?

I guess I spoke a bit too soon.

In my boot volume, my MBP's battery has consistently been read correctly since I updated to 10.14.6, but I just booted into another volume with around 13 hours showing as remaining, and now that I've booted back, after only 5 (five) minutes, it shows only 5 (five) hours remaining.

Historically, I know the number will slowly increase to what it should be, but it's really annoying to see that the problem persists.

More: Remaining charge % is being read correctly, but it's not being translated to remaining time correctly.

After about 1 1/4 hours, remaining time is up to 10 1/2 hours.
