I'm in CS4 and was blown away. For first time used expose to clear the screen and something remained. In CS4, the action/history palette would not leave the screen. anyone know why?

Wow, that's a strange one!

At a guess, I'd say Photoshop is doing something weird with that particular window. Either it's not a standard window at all, and Photoshop is drawing directly onto the screen and simulating the look of a window, or Photoshop has created the window in an unusual way.

Does it happen with any other palettes? Does it happen if you undock the Actions and History palette from each other?

Tacit,
thanks, just did test and cleared everything but kept the menu bar on top.
Bar that says what the current tools functions are set at.

So that's better, still weird, and I'm sure it'll come back worse later.
Maybe someone who knows Photoshop more can explain.

Kevs,

I don't have an explanation but I wonder if you tried a simple restart. That often cures weird problems.

I've done some tests (I'm using Tiger) and Photoshop does play nicely with Expose; the only oddity I have noticed is that with a palette that is docked to the Options Bar, when I hit Expose *part* of the palette scootches off to the side and part scootches off to the top. But all the palettes do clear the screen.

Tacit, do you notice the options bar at top stays put?

Nope, the options bar scoots up off the screen on my system.

You're using Tiger though... and i'll wager this is probably as much a Spaces related issue, as one tied to Exposé exclusively. Palettes and other "floating" type windoids in apps not written with full Spaces-compatibility in mind often cause the sort of behavior(s) described above. [not that Spaces itself is any model of perfection as yet.]

So to summarize, yes: it may appear that Exposé in Leopard+ exhibits the problem... but its genesis is probably a lack of compatibility with some aspect of Spaces. [and possibly it can be minimized by tweaking some setting in Spaces... else, ask Adobe.]

Hal, I'm on Snow Leopard. I disabled spaces. I liked it at first, but got on my nerves.
Option bar remains. why?
