Boy, if anyone can solve this would be great. I'm on Excel 2016 Mac and always get this "excel save changes before the application quite unexpectedly".
This comes up all the time, even though there are no previous unexpected quits. Thanks.

Try this, though: Look in /System/Applications/Utilities/Console > Diagnostic Reports and see if there are any Excel items.
Thanks Artie, that wont help at all. Just looking for someone who seen the issue and knows how to solve it. That said, I've posted on Excel Mac forum and no one knows anything.
It might help, kevs, because Excel may actually be "quitting" on you without your seeing it, but leaving a message behind.
In other words, your pop-ups may not be spurious.

If Excel has left diagnostic reports in Console, maybe someone here will be able to make some sense of them, and if not, you'll at least have a more specific question to ask elsewhere.
