The drag folder to privacy, add/ delete still work to force spotlight to update a disc?

Is there a confirmation? I clicked upper right menulet, nothing , and nothing in activity monitor. Thanks.
I managed to rebuild the Spotlight index via the Maintenance tab of OnyX 3.5.8. You can get it and previous versions here. I don't remember if previous versions can do this, however.
Thanks J, but is this any less time consuming that the drag into privacy and then delete Apple method?
More important: Where do you see verification?
When I did it, it seemed to happen instantly. I did not see a formal verification, but when I tried Spotlight again, it worked as it should.
The point of this post is not how to do it, but verification it's working.
The fact that Spotlight started working again is enough verification for me. To be specific, I sometimes use Spotlight as an application launcher and I needed to use Disk Utility. Spotlight couldn't find it. After using OnyX, there was no problem, and subsequent uses of Spotlight (for files as well as applications) worked fine.
As far as I know after deleting the spotlight index, you have to restart the system to re-initialize Spotlight indexing. There is no confirmation.
Thanks Joe, restart system, you mean restart computer?

On phone today 2 hours with senior tech, about the icloud drive issue, and I brought up the Spotlight question. For Mac HD, you do get the confirmation clicking on upper right magnifier icon. External drives, no confirmation.

For both, you check activity monitor.

Have you tried, Joe J's suggestion of Onyx?, is that any faster than the tedious and weird add and delete it from privacy?
