I have been using Preview as my default PDF viewer with continuing good results. However, with Leopard, things have changed.

Now when I receive PDFs attachments in the mail, I cannot read them as the background is no longer white. It is a grey and white checkerboard.

I dragged the last email PDF to the desktop and opened Adobe Reader 9.1.0 so that I could view the PDF from within Reader. It opened just fine.

I've never had that happen since moving to Leopard. Do you suppose that com.apple.Preview.plist could be corrupt? How about under a different user account? Does that still happen?

Bingo. That was it. Thanks.

fwiw, the grey and white checkerboard normally symbolizes an area of an image that's transparent, when being edited. (the "alpha channel")

Great! Glad to hear it was something so easy to take care of. smile
