When I was using Outlook, you could hold down (I think) the shift key on launch to rebuild or compact the database. Is there such a "feature" in Mail?

Are there any routine measures that can be taken to keep Mail "fresh"?

Thanks.

I don't know about a global rebuild for Mail but you can rebuild individual mailboxes by selecting the mailbox and going to Mailbox > Rebuild.

Thanks, Jon.

Jon, I've followed your instructions, but there doesn't seem to be any indication that anything is happening. Is that correct?

I saw the same thing while rebuilding. The only indication, AFAIK, is that the mailbox in question seemed to have its emails disappear until the rebuild was complete.

Well, that's no good! I want bells and whistles and progress bars! cool
