OS 10.12.6

I have NordVPN which quit on me yesterday. I have trashed it and re-installed it 4 times from djfferent sites but it will not open. The enclosed report appears when I try to open it saying it unexpectively quit. Clicking the reopen option just sends a copy to apple. What do they do with it if anything?

Does anyone know why it quit. If so, is there anything I can do in the future to avoid it quitting again?

There is a lot more but I think the above tells the reason, I hope.

Why would you download the NordVPN software from any source other than the the developer or the App Store? Otherwise you risk getting more than you bargained for.

The Nord code is raising a fatal error, which is beyond your control. You need to contact the developer here.

Sorry about my error regarding sites when I should have said links. The 4 I was talking about were during a chat with someone from NordVPN. They included links from the developer and the App Store. All to no avail.

I have just received an email telling me to turn on the hidden folder visibility which is something I've never heard of. There is a link giving instructions so I'll see how it goes.

Those hidden folders turned out to be quite simple and now after reinstalling the app, all is well.

can you use os x's built-in vpn capabilities with nord?

Sorry for the delay, I haven't checked just lately.

I don't know about using os x's vpn with Nord. I've never thought about it. But I will look into it. I believe what I have is one of the better ones on the market.

vpn software is pretty rigidly defined, they all pretty much work the same. Only the SERVICE they provide is unique or better/worse.

Odd are good they are using a standard L2TP or IPSEC vpn. they will have "manual setup" instructions on their support site, so you can connect from ANY device using its built-in vpn support, without having to use their custom client software. (which won't be available on every platform - ie they may not have a smartphone app for your phone, so just 'do it the hard way' and use your phone's built-in vpn support)

this same manual setup process is used to configure a *hardware* vpn box that sits at your cable modem, and creates a private LAN on the other side of it. (it functions as your router, with vpn functionality by default for everything on your local network)

again they can't write a client for the box, they are just using one of the standards, and you just go into the box's admin setup and plug in the values and turn it on and it goes.
