How can I share my internet connection with my Son's laptop requiring a password?

On your son's computer (a Mac, I"m assuming), select your network from either the menu bar or System Preferences > Network > Network Name drop-down and enter your network password at the prompt.

(I think that answers your question, but if not, please clarify the question.)
