Almost as equally scary is a situation that is pointed out in the article: there are services that will negotiate with the squatters to allow a redirect to the correct site.

That reeks of conspiracy!

I personally don't care either way. If you typo a url, and it takes you to a phishing site, there's probably some trademark infringement going on there at the very least. (most sites nowadays have a "copyright 2016, xyz inc" at the bottom) So it's already breaking the law.

I don't see it as any different than say, buying a iPhome off eBay and wondering why it won't work with iTunes. Pay attention

A year or two ago there was a bigger brouhaha over unicode being used to sneak urls through, using characters that LOOKED similar to (or occasionally identical to) the ones they were expected to be. I'm not sure how they dealt with that.

Grammatical correctness can sure make a sentence awkward, but I agree with you. Prepositions are not good words to end sentences with.

Those ultimate prepositions were plagues of my existence over 50 years ago (prescriptive grammatical correctness and all that) right on through my PhD dissertation.
GBS was ever so cute and charming in many regards, but one must look at the whole picture in terms of comprehension.
