Installed it today on my ipad. Huge browsing speed difference! Love it. Not a lot of settings options yet but am definitely looking forward to the first upgrade. It does not seem to be able to import bookmarks from Safari because Safari for iOS does not export bookmarks, as discussed in another thread.

I tried it too just the other day. I did not notice any speed differences and navigating with bookmarks was clunky.

The Firefox web site says it will "eventually" be able to sync bookmarks, etc. with the desktop version, and it will require creating a Firefox/Mozilla account.

I'm surprised they are going to require you to make an account. They are all about privacy.

Anyway, the browser seems faster, like Mozilla's Camino, a very basic browser that I loved but they discontinued security updates. There seems to be a world of difference in private browsing mode between Firefox and Safari.

What I just heard is that Panasonic has started using Firefox as their browser for smart TVs. They may already be shipping them in Europe.

Not surprising since Firefox/Mozilla is open source so they don't have to pay any royalties to use it.

But that's a good thing. An open source browser means lots of customization, add-ons, etc.

Edit: I'm certain Panasonic is paying something.

There has to be some sort of intermediary mechanism if the sharing is to be seamless. Otherwise, how would they know where to "send" your bookmarks, etc.?

Apple's intermediary is iCloud, which requires an account. Other software uses Dropbox, which requires an account, etc., etc.

Yeah. All I wanted to do is transfer my Safari bookmarks on my iPad into iOS Firefox.

I don't want or need to completely sync my bookmarks between my MBP and my iPad. It would be nice to be able to add my iPad bookmarks to my desktop, but I don't want to add the years of bookmarks on my MBP onto my iPad.
