Usually when I get this it means the clock got reset to 1996 or something and I go fix the clock and it's happy. but not this time? Any idea what's going on here?

this was immediately following a reboot after installing 10.8.4 combo

Did you restart after setting the clock?

actually I never had to set the clock. I just had the window open to show I had verified it was accurate....

I saw that happen once when I had rebooted a computer and immediately connected to the Internet. The clock was wrong, ad the browser fired up before the system synced the clock to the time server. Then the clock synced and I was all like "what?"

Turning off automatic clock setting showed that the computer wasn't holding the date and time properly between shutdowns.
