imac OS 10.5.7 epson printer color stylus 860

My printer will not work with leopard so I downloaded a

Gutenprint driver 5.0.2-ub (see web site)

Can someone direct me to driver that will work?

According to the Gimp-Print web site, Gutenprint 5.2.4, is compatible with OS X 10.3 or higher went into full release July 29, 2009 and it supports drivers for your Epson Color Stylus 860. I recommend installing 5.2.4 rather than the 18 month older and out of date Gutenprint 5.0.2.

After installing the Gutenprint 5.2.4 drivers,

1. go to System Preferences > Print & Fax
2. Control+Click on the printer list and select "Reset Printer System"
3. After that you will have to re-add your Stylus 860 and any other printers you have.
4. Be sure to select the driver labeled "Epson Stylus Color 680 - CUPS+Gutenprint v.5.2.4". You may have to use the Select a driver to use option to actually get to that driver.

I did as you said but it still does not work. I click page set-up, and then print, exactly as it should do, but it will not print.

I purchased this printer when I had a white imac which was
OS 9. This may be the problem because after clicking the epson icon, it says I cannot open it because the classic environment
is no longer supported. My next computer was an emac which as you know gave you the option of booting into OS 9 which I never did, but the printer worked fine in tiger.
I'm thinking I should bite the bullet and invest in another printer. This one is rather ancient. Thanks for your input.
BTW, whoever organized this forum should be congratulated.

go to epson site and u will c they have never written a driver for OSX
Epson 860

a google search for Epson Stylus Color 860 mac OSX brought up many hits listing OSX drivers for the 860.

On ZDnet, the driver version 6.3 AE is marked as compatible with 10.5 PPC and Intel. It can be downloaded here

My Epson 740 has been working just fine with Leopard, my first OSX version.

I did buy another printer but my epson 860 is going to my son who has leopard so that driver you steered me onto will be just fine.
Saves me having to trash it.
