I have a quite old but nonetheless very reliable Apple LaserWriterSelect 360. Until OSX 10.6 i could print on it using a Farallon iPrint Adapter, which transfered Ethernet using AppleTalk Protocol to LocalTalk. Since AppleTalk has been dropped by Apple with OSX 10.6. this doesn't work anymore.
As Apple and some people on different forums state one solution would be to use an older Mac with OS 10.5.x and PrinterSharing.
But i only have an old G4 Machine with OSX 10.4.11 and this doesn't work. Others say, that one could use IP Printing, but I can't figure out if this is supported by the LWSelect 360 and how to find its IP-Adress. I also know of the possibility to use a Printserver connected to the Parallel port ofthe Laserprinter. But I don't know of any product that works with my iMac 7,1.
Printing with Snow Leopard on older AppleTalk Printers seems to me quite a common issue for Mac Users and I would appreciate any answer to my problem as well to the more common topic of Printing on AppleTalk Printers with Mac OSX 10.6.x
Hi, and welcome to FineTunedMac. smile

Would you please edit your post to either make your colors darker or change them to black; I could not get through it...it is extremely difficult reading..

Thanks.
Sorry, but Iwas using ubbthreads-dark as stylesheet. Switched back to default.

Thanks.

I know next to nothing about AppleTalk, but I do remember the subject, maybe even your particular question, having come up before.

Search FTM with keyword "AppleTalk" and see if any of the hits are pertinent.
Hello,

It seems you have done a good amount of research and this reply may miss the mark completely. Here are two articles that may repeat items you have already reviewed.

This link indicates that the requirements are Mac 10.5 or 10.4: Use your AppleTalk printer with Snow Leopard - UPDATE.

How-To: Resurrect Your AppleTalk Printer in Snow Leopard
Thanks for the Links. I finally found a Solution wich works for me:
I use an old G4 running Mac OSX 10.4.11 with a static IP Adress.
On this machine I enable printer sharing.
On my IMac running MacOSX 10.6.4 I had first to install the additional printerdrivers package from the leopard Install CD (optional installs).
When adding a new printer in the fax&print system controlpanel (IP Printer) I entered the static IP adress of the G4 and chose
LPD (Line Printer Daemon) as the protocol. After that a printer was automatically found and the driver for a generic postscript printer applied.
To test the printer i printed a document from InDesign CS 5.
