Posted By: weldiger Can't trash backup files from TimeMachine. - 04/05/10 05:55 AM
Have OS X 10.6.3 on MacBook.
Just downloaded on WYFI elsewhere as I can only get dial up.
I had trashed some of the files from TimeMachine to make more space on it as TechTool had said I needed to do. Got lots of updates quickly, and installed most. No problems, till I looked at trash and all of the files from TimeMachine were still there. It refuses to trash using option + trash or Secure Empty trash. I can't remove folders from trash. and they are all empty anyway.
Any help or even a little sympathy would be appreciated.
Thanks
weldiger
Try Trash It!.
FWIW, moving items from the Time Machine database into the trash using Finder is not the right approach. We should instead ask TM to delete those items for us (via the Action menu), while we are engaged in it's spacey GUI.
Thanks for advice y'all. I got it worked out using Onyx to do it's magic on hard drive, and it also dumped the trash.
Hal itosis - you nearly gave me a heart attack with your little bug running around your avitar. -
But otherwise all is well - thanks.
Jchuzi, I will look for Trash it.

Welcome to these forums, weldiger! laugh In case you didn't notice, Jon posted his suggestion of Trash It! as a hyperlink (see the FAQ > What UBB Code can I use?) for details. Clicking that link brings you to a download page.
weldiger,

And happy it is to see you. Indeed a most hearty welcome to FTM!
