Apparently the name for this recent update is the same as the previous one that was pulled. So users should check the availability through Preferences>Software Updates, rather than relying on the update name.
In another thread I identified an issue where the Captcha at some sites was simply returning a constantly revolving blue circle. Out of curiosity, I went to the site that was reliably always a problem, and did a test sign in. It now works.

I always use Preferences>Software Updates but was stung with awful performance after the first install, so I'd be interested in knowing
