I downloaded and installed the Combo 10.14.5 updater. Not only did all go well, but the pesky printing issue that had occurred in Safari 12.1 seems to have been fixed in Safari 12.1.1, which came along for the ride.

Installing the Delta was painless and with no resultant problems...so far, but my battery issue still hasn't been addressed.
