About 3 weeks ago, Time Machine stopped backing up my system. There's room on the backup drive. TM periodically reminds me that I haven't backed up. Sometimes I have a "backup failed" message.

Also, TM will not display on my menu bar, even though I selected that option in System Preferences. So I can't launch it to force a backup. If I launch from Launchpad, I get the display of past backups, and no way to force a backup.

Viewing the backup drive on Finder, there is no circular arrow indicating a backup is in progress. But the backup folder on the backup drive has a file called "2015-10-08-121638.inProgress" timestamped earlier today.

Any thoughts?

I'm on a Macbook Air, OSX 10.10.5.

read my recent post: http://www.finetunedmac.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=36299#Post36299

And that being said, if you're still under applecare, give Apple a call and see if they can straighten it out.
