Hi all. So I've implemented FV2 on my Lion Macs and realized the fatal flaw: you can't remote reboot since FV2 authentication happens before OS boot so needs to happen directly at the console.

In today's day of networked PCs and mobile devices, that's a serious shortcoming. Not to mention for IT shops. Being such a big Intel partner, you'd think maybe they'd leverage vPro for out of band management -- even if in an ARD-exclusive way -- but nope.

Any thoughts on the topic? Wondering how other folks are handling this. Unfortunately I've had to disable FV2 to be able to remote admin my Macs (LogMeIn, TeamViewer, VNC, ARD, Parallels Mobile, etc).

Thanks

I seriously doubt you are going to find a workaround for that.

Well, I know there's no workaround. Just wondering how others are dealing with it. IMO it's such a major dealbreaker that it makes FV2 worthless except for TM encryption.

It wouldn't terribly surprise me to see apple put a basic ARD client in the firmware. OR even better, be able to send a variation of a magic packet to key in a firmware lock password even, and integrate that into the ARD admin app.
