If I recall, the iDevice needs to be plugged in to make this command work. That seems to make it less practical for most perhaps, except in some middle-of-the-night emergency situation.

The article is still a good explanation of the underlying process.

The iDevice does NOT have to be plugged in, but it does require internet access.
