I was camping in Colorado last week and while I was securing my car to the tow dolly attached to our camper my Apple Watch kept snagging on the fender of the car, so I took it off and laid it on the fender of the tow dolly to keep it out of the way. It was still there when we drove off. It slid off of the fender and dropped under the wheel of the tow dolly as we pulled away. Four observations from the incident...
  1. I should have put the watch in my pocket and not on the fender 🙄
  2. The Apple Watch is tough. I have the stainless steel case and there wasn't so much as a scratch on the case in spite of the sharp edged gravel it fell on. The crystal on the other hand is a shattered ruin of sharp edged glass, but the watch still runs and even the multi-touch features still work even though the crystal has separated from the case. That is little short of amazing IMO. 😀
  3. Thanks to Applecare the total cost to repair or replace is $79. Without AppleCare it would have beeb $300. 😌
  4. Watch repairs are not done in the local Apple Store so the watch has to be sent in but will be returned directly to my home when repairs are complete (estimated 3 to 5 working days).

Once more proving AppleCare is one extended warranty policy that is IMO well worth the money.
