MacNN has just published Backblaze Annual HD Failure Rate Statistics. Although the failure rate is lower for all brands, HGST is still significantly lower than the competition. Note these are all 2GB or larger drives.

Hitachi drives don't appear to have taken a hit from Western Digital ownership; I wonder if that will remain consistent?
