Posted By: tacit Going on tour, would love to meet some of you! - 05/21/14 09:17 PM
Yesterday I got the proof of the new book I've written with my partner Eve, called More Than Two, from the printers. It looks great! I'm so excited--this is my first professionally published book. Presales on Amazon have already gone bonkers--Amazon has ordered 2500 copies before it's even back from the printer.

Eve and I will be touring all over to support the book. May 30, we have a book launch party in Vancouver, BC; May 31, we have another in Portland, Oregon. We will be in Atlanta, Georigia from June 2 through June 8. June 10, we'll be presenting in Raleigh, NC; June 11 is Chapel Hill, NC. I will be in Tampa, FL from June 12 through June 19. Then we'll be in Nome, Alaska June 28.

This fall things get seriously crazy--we don't have dates yet, but we'll be going all the way down the Western seaboard from Vancouver to San Francisco, then going through New Mexico, Nevada, and the Midwest. We might make it up to Ontario.

I'd love to meet some of the FineTunedMac crew in person. If any of you happen to be in any of the places I've mentioned, let me know! It'd be awesome to put some faces to the names.
If you take a side-jaunt from Ontario to NYC, lemme know! smile

Edit: First round's on me!
Congrats with your book, and good luck on the road! From your promotion schedule I guess I'll have to wait for a possible meeting until the Fall.
How exciting! It would be wonderful to meet you outside of this context, so keep posting your future dates.
tacit,

Travel safely. Keep us posted on your Fall schedule.
I too welcome the opportunity to meet. Should Austin make your calendar, that would make my day.
In the wake of your announcement, I recommended your new book for acquisition by our local public library. The order was placed on the 70th anniversary of D-Day — a strange coincidence — and I await its arrival.
Nice cover art.
Woohoo, awesome! Thanks! smile

I'm in Tampa, Florida right now, getting ready to leave for the airport in a few hours. I'll be flying to Portland, OR, then in a week heading to Nome, Alaska. I can barely remember what my bed feels like, and the real tour doesn't even start until September.
Enjoy the variety of beds/mattresses you encounter (preferably sans bedbugs). That way, when you need to replace the one at home, you'll be ahead of the game.

RE my earlier comment about your book's cover art:
I know that sometimes I'm a tad slow, but until just now I didn't notice the evolution of your FTM avatar to your book cover. Kudos.
Yep, the FTM avatar was from the book cover mockup when I first started thinking about writing the book. The final cover was done as a watercolor by artist Paul Mendoza, who with my coauthor Eve Rickert did a fantastic job re-interpreting the original idea.
Okay, the book, More Than Two starts shipping September 2. We're finalizing the book tour which will begin on September 8, wand last for two months. I'd love a chance to meet in person!

We're starting in Victoria, Canada, then on September 9th we'll be in Vancouver. From there, we'll travel down the West Cost, stopping in Bellingham, Seattle, Olympia, Portland, Eugene, and Eureka in Oregon. Then we'll be in the San Francisco Bay Area for several days, starting September 21. We're hitting LA on October 3, traveling to Las Vegas on October 4, then traveling to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Colorado Springs, Boulder, Denver, and Paonia. From there, we'll be traveling to Salt Lake City on October 21; Butte, Montana on October 23; and from there traveling back up to Canada, hitting Banff, Nelson, and Kelowna.

It's going to be madly busy, but it'd be great to have a cup of coffee with some online friends during the tour.
Is there an itinerary that will show where and when at the various stops?

I'm surprised, if you're hitting Banff, that you're not planning to hit Calgary and/or Edmonton (just a tad further east, ca 78 miles / 125 km and 250 miles / 405 km, respectively) – far larger markets with more 'sympathetic' audiences. Just a thought.
We're going to be making an itinerary available on the More Than Two Web site. It's not totally up to date yet, but we're working on it!

I can run the suggestion for Calgary by our bookings person. smile
Typo on the Sept. 27 in S.F. event. Unless you plan to be there all day, it should be 8:30 PM?
Oops, right you are! Thanks, that date has been fixed. smile
Harking back a few months ...

Nice cover art.

I am happy to report that the once long-awaited book has been acquired and processed* by the local library and is on hold for at least two people.
Yet again ... Mazel tov!

* Catalog entry:
More than two : a practical guide to ethical polyamory / Franklin Veaux, Eve Rickert; foreword by Janet W. Hardy.
Call No. 306.8423 VEAU
Just got my hands on More Than Two. It certainly is a labor of love – and I mean the double entendre (sans that phrase's usual risqué connotation).

And a handsomely put-together tome it is. Thornhill Press seems to have done right by you.

Kudos all around.
Thanks! smile I think it's a beautiful book.
