about Snow Leopard. Not only it has factual mistakes that the bloggers have spotted but it may be missing the Rosetta issue that becomes optional in SL and many people may not be aware of this. I'd like to hear form our gurus what they think about this bite. The eventual question many a time debated here: should one blame Apple or Adobe and the likes?
I personally, will test very old Acrobat 7 and Photoshop CS1 on SL but will definitely install Rosetta.

Personally, I'm not really sure what the problem is here. Some apps need an update before they'll work with a brand new OS... so what else is new? It's a fair warning for folks to tread lightly and to not run out on day one and expect everything to be perfect. Never is, never will be. But I don't blame anyone because I don't see a problem.

Applications updates are flying thick and fast at the moment. I have a few that have been updated twice since Friday. That is not unlike what I experienced with the Leopard (OS X 10.5) upgrade and 10.6 has even more internal changes than 10.5 did so the updates were expected.

As far as older Adobe apps go, it is Adobes choice -- and an understandable one -- to not support compatibility with obsolete versions of it apps and it would be fiscally and practically impossible for Apple to take on the task of making sure every one of the tens of thousands of OS X applications was compatible with the OS. If your relatively ancient, as software releases go, versions of Photoshop and Acrobat work then good on you. If not then from my viewpoint there is no blame attached to either Apple or Adobe. It is your choice to make; upgrade the apps or downgrade the OS.

You are right, even SuperDuper got two updates in three days!
Concerning Adobe, my problem with the article again is that they stated incompatibility but it might be related to installing or not installing Rosetta and this issue was not covered at all. So, before throwing mud at the new OS the guy should have explored some possibilities himself. Unless this has nothing to do with Rosetta, although I suspect to the contrary, having had a positive experience with older Adobe apps and Leopard.
