Were I to be groupie, 'tis in Richard Fenyman's camp I would be- sitting outside of some physics lab, wearing a geeky T-shirt and playing the bongos.

Calling him a star may be lowballing him...

That said, the notion of Dyson's aversion to big projects Nicholas Dawidoff expressed in his article The Civil Heretic is particularly fascinating against the backdrop of some of Dyson's concepts.
