I've moved Fine Tuned Mac over to a new server as of August 27. This should, I am hopeful, resolve the performance problems once and for all. Let me know if you experience any more slowdowns!

6/6:30 AM EDT, Fri, Aug 28th, and I've experienced some infuriating slowdowns.

Edit: It took 10 seconds by my clock from clicking "Submit" to seeing my post on-screen, but my screen showed "Generated in 0.965 seconds in which 0.924 seconds [....]

Huh?"

Edit 2: Slowdowns as long as 25/30 seconds.

As of the moment, I'm getting pages which take 20-30 seconds to be generated. This is completely different from the previous delays, in which pages were always generated in less than a second.

Yesterday (8/27) I left this site because pages were opening at glacial speed. This morning (8/28, 8:50 AM PDT) the site is behaving like any other; i.e., quick page openings. I will check again later in the day.

8:59 AM I take it back. Submitting this post took over a minute, and then I was returned to a blank page. Clicking on my bookmark for the Forums, returned me to a blank page. Finally using the browser History to get to this specific forum worked, but page loading is back to semi-glacial speeds.

Other pages are loading relatively quick, but just now the forum index page loaded with:

Generated in 32.963 seconds in which 32.902 seconds were spent on a total of 22 queries.

3:45AM EDT, Sun, 8-30, and loading is hair-tearing slow... One 30 sec wait after another.

"Home" loads instantaneously, but I've run into this several times when trying to access a forum:

Go fiigure—1:45 PDT and blindingly fast page loads!

OK, that actually tells me quite a bit--the fact that the front page loads immediately shows conclusively that the problem lies with the database server and not the front-end server. Thanks!

I don't know whether you've changed anything, but FTM is far more responsive tonight (9-1/3 to 6 AM) than it has been; I haven't found myself gnashing my teeth once.

Everything loads without hiccup number one -- info which I'm sharing just so I can say hello tacit! without going off topic entirely. A gazillion thanks for offering up your expertise and getting FTM up and running. So many old friends, so many familiar fab mods. Hope life has been swell for you since last we met.
