One of my girlfriends has an iMac Core 2 Duo machine...the aluminum body one with the black plastic back rather than the aluminum unibody. It has a 20" screen with a plastic face, rather than the glass face of the unibody models.

The front plastic face has developed a chip in it that goes nearly all the way through the plastic. The LCD planet is totally fine. Is there a way to replace just the face of the computer without the expense of replacing the entire LCD panel? The Apple store wants to replace the whole LCD panel, which would cost more than what the computer is worth.
