I've tried several search entries and cannot locate info about putting 6GB RAM in my MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2, 2.2GHz.
I want to be sure I can do it before I make the purchase.
Links?

Thanks

Check out the RAM section of EveryMac’s spec page for the MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.2 15" (SR), and the link there to the page How do you upgrade the RAM in the MacBook Pro? etc..
If the model displayed in the first link above is incorrect, select the correct one from the MacBook Pro page.

According to the always very reliable Mactracker a
  • Macbook Pro, 15 inch Mid/Late 2007 2.4/2/2 GHz
  • model identifier MacBookPro3.1
  • Model Number: A1226
  • Order Number MA895LL
Maximum RAM is 6.0 GB (actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)

Because at the time Apple manufactured the particular Macbook Pro model the largest available 200 pin PC2-5300 (667 MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM capacity was 1 GB and there are 2 SO-DIMMs in the Macbook Pro, 2GB is the largest RAM capacity you will ever find listed by an official Apple source. Admittedly, I have not upgraded the RAM on your particular model Macbook Pro. However, over the years, I have upgraded the RAM on several Macs based on the "actual" limits cited by MacTracker and they have never failed me yet.

Thanks folks for the good info. The key word I was missing is "upgrade." Feel a little embarrassed. I know "upgrade" when I see it!
