Software Update info says:
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 7 delivers improved compatibility, security, and reliability by updating J2SE 5.0 to 1.5.0_24, and updating Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_20 for 64-bit capable Intel-based Macs. J2SE 1.4.2 is no longer being updated to fix bugs or security issues and remains disabled by default in this update.
..and that's more information of a useful nature than I could find chasing the links for more information! I wanted to find out if it is advisable to install it if my Mac is only 32-bit capable.
So, my next task was to figure out which one it is. I thought that it was only 32-bit for some reason. But, System Profiler > Hardware Overview only says this:
Model Name: Mac mini
Model Identifier: Macmini2,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MM21.009A.B00
SMC Version (system): 1.19f2
Serial Number (system): YM7486V1YL1
Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-0016CBAD5C6B
So if that's in there in some sort of code, I need to know how to decipher it. I could not find anything else in SP that says 32-bit or 64-bit. Where do I need to look??
