I bought my MacBook Pro 2.66 with the 7200 rpm drive 16 days ago. I just got the announcement for the newer, faster line of MacBook Pros. The place I bought it from has a 14 day return period. I know someone there and can probably argue my way into getting the newer one that was just announced. Is it worth it?

you have a better than fair chance of getting a free or pay-the-difference swap.
the markup on their computers internally, especially when cutting out all the middlemen, is considerable, so they don't mind much.
I bought a refurb ipod 32gb to replace my 16. To my horror a 1st gen arrived in the mail. (I hadn't noticed the only 32gb refurbs on their website were gen1) So I called them and they just asked me to pay the diff and swapped me.

Just received and completed installing my new, MacBook Pro 17 i7. (Details in my signature.) I used my previous PowerBook 17 G4 for 6 1/2 years. So, this new MBP 17 is a huge upgrade for me. In a word, this MBP 17 i7 is "awesome." ...I'm grinning from ear to ear.

They did a straight swap, I ended up with the larger drive (500 instead of 320) for the same price. I call it my CrackBook because I can't pull my eyes away from the screen. It's absolutely beautiful. Thanks to all for the hand-holding. This was a big step.
