Looks like drag thing wont make it to 64 bit? Any recommendation to secondary docks? Thanks.

In the developer's "Frequently Asked Questions" they state that the current version runs in 10.14 (I am using it with no problems) and a 64-bit version will be out next month.

Ira, I have application wizard for years, love it --great for quitting all apps. But it has nothing to do with this question of a secondary dock replacement for drag thing.

Darn, you often have the best answers! Not this round- yet. You are not a drag thing user or have a secondary dock?

(ok now looking at app wizard more carefully, and do see the others buttons I never use, but far from drag things where you can put documents, folders by choice)

After reading your description I did a cursory search of the App Store using "dock" as the search argument and come up with several potential candidates such as Dock Menus, Overflow 3, and Dock Shelf. You might find something there that meets your expectations/needs.

After reading the developer's explanation of why they are dropping Drag Thing development, their decision makes sense. Had they developed it in the Cocoa instead of the Carbon environment their decision might have been different. but the computer market continues to shrink slowly while the smartphone/tablet market continues to grow and the iPad Pro is arguably more powerful than the MacBook Pro. Because their other product, pCalc, is both MacOS and iOS it has tens of millions more potential customers than drag thing will ever have and from a business standpoint that cannot be ignored.

Thinking about this it occurs to me Apples new APIs which permit the same app to run on both MacOS and iOS could easily be the savior of a lot of MacOS apps.

And another one bites the dust!

Got it Joe, well just emailed James and asked to consider continuing.. he may still.. there are 1/4 million using Drag Thing or more. let's see.

To each her or his own BUT… Application Wizard creates a mini-dock in a location of your choice. As you observed, there are other buttons, and in particular the blue one allows you load folders, files and apps of your choosing. It is highly customizable; it runs as a Preference Pane. Take another look if you don't find what you want.

Thanks Ira, how do you make a mini dock? I've only had it as a menulet forever?

Does it accept url links and documents?

I never go to the blue, I see stuff there, and just assume what is there is already on computer. How do you choose to load my favorites up? documents folders?

Everything is controlled through the Preference Pane in System Preferences. This is where you customize the buttons. The mini-dock is called a "panel" in the Preference Pane.
You can add applications or scripts (the latter could open a document or go to a URL).
Each colored button has some items by default, but the blue button, in particular, is highly customizable with groups, folders and items within the folders.

Thanks Ira, will make it the 1st backup to drag things if drag does not continue.. keeping your notes. I do hope James and drag things continue though!
