I have RealPlayer installed although I don't remember the last time that I used it. I know about the security issues with Flash, but how secure is RealPlayer? I haven't heard much about it lately.

I wasn't sure if this is the correct forum for this topic. Mods: Feel free to move it.

You might start by taking a look at a list of Realplayers Security Vulnerabilities, this from Symantec, or this from ZD Tech. My personal take would be, if you aren't using it why keep it open your system.

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

I had seen those articles, but the first and third were over my head. To my untrained eye, the vulnerabilities look serious. I keep RP around because I have a couple of videos on my hard drive that need it in order to be viewed. I had downloaded them some years ago so any damage is already done. I won't trust RP for viewing any web content, however.

Sounds like me….although I wasn't aware of the vulnerability issues, so thanks for the heads-up. I just used CleanApp to remove it and the related files.
