I have systems here running 10.9.5 and I was running updates on them and found that java was set to auto update (which is a problem when users are not admins) so I turned it off. And its back checked when I apply, close, and re-open the box.
Looking around it appears that this has been a reoccurring issue on both windows and mac platforms, and keeps getting fixed and breaking again. (some speculate they're going out of their way to make this issue creep back in on a regular basis)
The last bug reports I ran across indicate this was dissevered again around a year ago, and has been closed as a "duplicate" of a non-existent bug report.
Anyone have any additional insight?
