We are using an iMac with Yosemite and iPhones and iPads with IOS8+ I have not activated iCloud Drive. At present if I add an event to the calendar on the iMac it will quickly show up on the other devices; traditional iCloud at work! Will this function, with no effort on my part, continue if I go to iCloud Drive? Thanks, Dave

Thanks for the info, BUT when I went to Preferences and checked the iCloud drive box the window now showed that the program was "SettingUp", with the little gear wheel happily spinning away. Three hours later the window had not changed; the wheel still spinning. I shut off the Mac, later I checked that events were still being inserted on other devices, Mac to Pad, Pad to Mac etc.. So. I seems that the cloud was not disrupted, but iCloud Drive never did set up. Any ideas? Thanks Dave

The only thing I can suggest it trying to setup the iCloud Drive once again.

Note: The iCloud Drive is separate from, although related to using iCloud to synch Calendar, Keychain, Safari, and the other apps via iCloud. The iCloud Drive will appear in Finder on your desktop as another drive and you can drag and drop files, any files, to and from the iCloud Drive. Once you have the iCloud drive setup you will find there a folder for each of the iCloud aware applications on your OS X or iOS devices and you can open new folders just as you would on your hard drive. The iCloud Drive is essentially for application data and not synchronization.
