Since I no longer have a separate modem, I get the error message that '
No fax modems were found' if I select '
Fax PDF' from the PDF pulldown menu in Leopard's Preview printer dialog. This suggests that a (properly) connected
* modem will be auto-detected and used, and that's in fact what happens. If you use that same modem to be connected to the internet, the fax will be sent as soon as the modem becomes available after you disconnect from your ISP.
For more info, you might want to check Mac (Finder) Help and type in 'faxing' or similar search term.
*) With a DSL hookup like yours, this means that your phone/fax line needs to have an in-line
DSL filter. These are usually provided by your ISP.
