Importing exif data into Filemaker 8.5

Do I need a plug-in to do this? I see one listed as Troi Automatisering File Plug-in 4.0 for FileMaker Pro 8.5. I wrote the company because they don't have it on their website and I don't know how to get it. I have a bunch of photos from various sources and would like to import the data automatically while importing the photo.

just a totally uneducated muse... you may have to use a specific picture file format for the exif data to be recognized. PNG would be my first approach. Direct questions to others, I really know very little about graphics.

Troi File Plug-In

This monsterdb post also refers to several other plug-ins/utilities that may be worth looking into.

This forum page refers to the command line tool exiftool as a possible solution.

According to This Filemaker.com page, Filemaker Pro itself can only import EXIF data from JPEGs and TIFFs during import from the camera.

Yes, the limitation with everything has been that the file must be uploaded directly from the device; the camera. But Troi did send me a plug in and it comes with a sample FM file and it did finally work!! The problem was, the different photographers were inconsistent in their field entries when they programmed their cameras so the process became kind of useless. I ended up doing the data entry "by hand" but also with the help of a utility called Reveal which did show any metadata that the file had that I didn't and that was useful.

I must give tremendous kudos to Troi. They are excellent and worked back and forth with me until I got it to work. Very patient and interested in the results.
