Hi all. SecureMac, which sells MacScan, is linked to on the front page of FTM at the foot of their article on malware. I would call that a product endorsement.
So, does anyone here use MacScan? Anyone who will vouch for it?
In this age of malware and identity theft, I couldn't help but wonder if this was some sort of double bluff! But I assume FTM to be a "trusted source" so I did download the free DNSchanger removal program and run it. Am I now infected? Eeek! Double eeek!!
iMac (19,1, 3.1 GHz i5, 12.7.4, 40 Gb RAM); MacBook Air (1.8 Ghz, 8 Gb RAM, 10.14.6, 256 Gb SSD) Vodafone router and Devolo Wi-Fi Extender, Canon TS8351 printer/scanner.

I do not run MacScan, ClamXav has always been sufficient for my needs, but I have used their DNSChanger Removal Tool 2.0 which I found on VersionTracker. It did not find anything on my Macs, actually I didn't expect it to, and neither did it install anything. As far as I know it is the only stand-alone script for finding and removing all the varieties of the DNSChanger trojan and from all reports it works well. As to a mention of a product or a site on FTM constituting an official endorsement, whether it is on the front page or in the forums -- it does not.
