I wonder if there is a trick to getting out of this loop.

I find when I use the find window on a webpage, it finds everything just fine. But when I go to Command and the down arrow to go to the end of the page for another reason, it just keeps going back to the Find window, and I have to manually go to the bottom of the page by using the trackpad. It doesn't happen consistently, but mostly it does.

Anyway out of this? It's so annoying!

Annoying or not, I think this is the way it's supposed to work. When you are in "Find mode", all instances of your search are found and highlighted. You can then use the Find window to move through all of the occurrences to see and/or find the one you want.

At least in Safari 12.x, if you click anywhere on the web page you get out of Find mode and then command-down arrow works.

On a Mac since 1984.
Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.

Hi:

OK, so they fixed it by version 12? I find I can click on the webpage and sometimes it works and sometimes not. After messing around with it, I found that I could click on the webpage and then click the "fn" key and THEN I can click down or up at will in my version.

Thanks, Ira.

I have always gone on the theory the ESC key is the universal exit for almost anything including the search function. It works in Safari Technology Preview 12.2, Safari 12.2 and Chrome.
