Some pages on ranker.com render fine in Safari 4.0.4. but in Firefox 29.0.1 the middle portion of the screen that shows the the list is blank.

I went to ranker.com's homepage and it looks fine to me (ie, renders perfectly) in Firefox 28.
Firefox 29 and 30 have some new things which really don't work very well (which is why I haven't moved up).
You might check the release notes (for Firefox 29) to see if they might provide enlightenment to your problem.

For the record, the page looked fine with Firefox 30.0 and OS X 10.9.4.
As a footnote, never having visited that site before, I see that one could spend their entire life just following links on that page.
On a Mac since 1984.
Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.

Any chance you've got AdBlock Plus or some other Firefox extensions enabled? That turned out to be the culprit last fall in your similarly-named
Trouble with web site
thread.
