can it be done? apple does not appear to allow me to add a custom IM type as it lets me for things as it does for homepage, email, address, and phone.

What I've been doing is changing the LABEL name to custom, "Skype" and leaving the type as "AIM". But is there a better way?

While not exactly what you're looking for, this page has an idea for integrating skype links.

I'm not trying to make clickable skype-activating URLs, I just want to record my friends' skype IDs in AddressBook. I don't even expect integration with Skype, I just want them in addressbook, marked appropriately.
