In a similar vein with the modems, we also see people with fried ethernet ports and were thinking they could use the usb ethernet adapter that apple sells primarily to the macbook air users. We had someone come in the other day with an ibook g4 running 10.4.11 and were unable to get it to work with it. (would not detect as a new network port in network sys prefs)

There's a list on the package in really small print as to what model computers it's compatible with. Does anyone happen to know the full list of what machines it works with and why? (I assume intel only?) A couple newer imacs took a hit recently and need a new ethernet port.

And also, what other good alternatives are there for usb to ethernet adapters for the mac? There are a number of them for sale around but most don't claim mac compatibility and the few that do I have to wonder how well they work. Looking for some recommendations based on experience.
