Many of the forums & financial institutions I use have ID & password log-ins. The financial institutions won't allow saving passwords but do allow saving the ID. Most forums will allow you to check a box to 'remember me'.

Since upgrading to Safari 11, none of the 'remember me' or saving passwords, on line, no longer work. I have to sign-in on, both ID & password every time I visit. The Safari will remember the passwords but not the sites.

Is this a new security thing or do I have a messed up .plist somewhere? BTW I'm using Safari 11 on 10.12.6. Thanks in advance.

I'm using Safari 11 but haven't noticed that problem. Have you tried deleting cookies from those sites and clearing caches? Deleting cookies will force you to sign in again, but perhaps Safari's password memory will stick this time. Just a thought.

If Jon's suggestions don't help, I suggest that you run or, as the case may be, rerun the macOS Sierra 10.12.6 Combo Update; it will re-install Safari 11.

I have had no problem with my financial websites, but there are a lot of new security features in Safari 11. I have found that many websites have features that do not work when content blockers are enabled, but that is configurable on a website-by-website basis so you might try this. go to the website but before entering any data on the menu bar go to Safari > Settings for this website and in the drop down that appears on the Safari window un-check "Enable content blockers". That action will force the page to reload and then hopefully it will work correctly.

NOTES:
  1. you may see a small icon appear at the right end of the UserID field. Click on that and you should see a list of entries including one labeled "for this site". Click on that and the subsequent fields will be filled in.
  2. You can add an icon to the Safari 11 tool bar for Website settings in View > Customize Toolbar.
  3. The default website settings can be set in Safari > Preferences > Websites

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Sorry for the delay, got sidetracked by a project. Deleting the cache didn't help but deleting the cookies associated with some of the problem sites helped on some of them but not all. Definitely better.
