My G4iBook, after long shutdown, now has self-assigned IP address and cannot access internet using Airport. Have tried: 1) making sure using DHCP, 2) renewed DHCP license, 3) deleted Airport and reenabled, and 4) disconnected other computers from Router and rest it. Nothing works. Any ideas?

David a little more detail would be helpful in diagnosing your situation would be helpful. Information such as:

• What OS X version you are using?
• Have you tried connecting using an ethernet connection to your router?
• Are there other devices on the network and are they connecting to the internet normally?
• Are you connecting to the local area network, ie. can you "see" other devices on the LAN?
• Have you changed anything in the network device configuration since the last time you attempted to use the iBook?
• What type of wireless router are you using?

before even bothering with the getting an ip address thing we need to take a thorough look at your wireless and whether or not you're getting connected to your preferred access point.
