I have been having trouble for a month or more with mail crashing on certain messages. I can't figure out the common thread of the messages on which it crashes, but it will occasionally blame Growl. I have deinstalled and reinstalled Growl several times and can't get rid of it. I also destroyed mail and reinstalled mail with no luck. Anyone else have tis trouble?

can you be more informational than "crashes"? Most here will consider that to be "mail has quit unexpectedly", but some describe freezes, becoming non responsive, or not showing any mail to be a "crash" also.

And when you say it crashes on "certain" messages, do you mean if you launch it again, you can reproduce the crash on the same messages? I understand from your post that you haven't determined a commonality between those messages, but do the messages in question always cause a crash?

Yes, by "crashes" I do mean quits unexpectedly with the appropriate message and offer to report, restart, etc. I have been watching more carefully and it seems that messages with attachments cause this, but not all messages with attachments. Yes, if a message causes a crash and I restart mail, when I go to that message it will again cause a crash. I can get rid of the message by clicking on the next message and then shift clicking on the offending message. That will allow me to delete both. I can't wait for snow leopard.
