I can't get my canon 4700 scanner to work on my OX maverick. Is this a normal problem or am I doing something wrong. Keep trying to download new drivers but still won't work. Please help!

Do you mean the MF4700 scanner? If nobody else has a solution, you could try that link to download Vue Scan. I have not used it myself but I have read good things about it.

What Jon said.

FWIW: I am a Vue Scan user and love it. A bit on pricy side, but I still think it's worth it. The built in OCR capability is a delight to use and the tech support is first-rate. Indeed I suggest giving the free trial a go...

With Mavericks, Apple changed the Scan/Print user interface.....the scanner portion of your multi-function printer is no longer accessed through the Printer/Scanner PrefPane.

To get to the scanner function you now have to open the Preview application and then pull down the File menu to "Import from Scanner".....all networked devices (or attached Multi-Function Printers) should appear for you to select from.

I just discovered this last week myself as I was trying to scan at my daughter's house and her printer, while seen on her network, wasn't letting me scan (just like you are having an issue).

I actually used the Help menu to find the solution....

Let us know if this helps you.

You can scan from Image Capture as well.
